The Turn Up & Drive Not Rally

For a while I've threatened to create my own rally. Whilst I'd love to do it properly, charge money and make a fortune from you all, I've so much going on that I can't be bothered. However I am really keen on driving to Norway for a few reasons.

  • I want to drive the tunnel and Bridge linking Copenhagen to Malmo. I was recently speaking to a guy from Copenhagen and explained that I wanted to do this and his repsonse was "Why?". For me it's obvious that such an feat of Engineering has to be seen, the idea of driving above an ocean is pretty cool. I guess once it's done it's just another bridge, but I want to do it myself.
  • I want to drive the Atlantic Ocean road in Norway, this is a road that links a lot of small Islands on the Norwegian coast and is virtually at sea level, it looks fantastic and again I just have to do it
  • Norway has some fantastic scenery and mountain passes, Trollstigen is one in particular that has been factored into the route.
If you don't know about any of the above, do a quick google to see what I'm on about. If you've done a rally before and enjoyed it I suspect you may start to get the itch!!

As this isn't a properly organised rally there's no entrance fee, there's no competition, there's no prizes, I'm going for a drive around and if anyone wants to come along they're more than welcome. Not bothered about whether you drive a knackered Fiat Uno or a Porsche, as I'm not organising I also take no responsonsibility for anything that happens whilst on the drive. It's down to you to observe and respect the local laws and customs. You will also need to sort your own food, accomodation and fuel. Some of the route will be sparsely populated so Destroyer tactics may need to be implemented, whereby whenever you see a petrol station you stop and fill right up.

It is a massive route and will take ages, I've planned it over the week of the Queens Jubilee so 2 days are bank holidays, but the return will not be until Sunday evening. Of course you could sell/scrap your car and fly home from a convenient location but that's something you will need to arrange yourself.
